Field Trips/CBI Programming

Done are the days when special education students and schools are made to feel unwelcome while out on a field trip. Play-Place’s CBI (Community Based Instruction) education curriculum reinforces lessons learned at school, or teaches brand new ones! We have developed an extensive curriculum for local schools and group homes to qualify Play-Place as a destination for their CBI Field Trips. We offer a choice of 20 structured classes and activities including life skills, social skills, physical fitness, art, and much more.

Our curriculum adjusts based on any age, special needs, or cognitive level. Our youngest field trips have been preschool; our oldest have been senior citizens! Teachers and group home directors are raving about their field trips to Play-Place! We have scheduled trips to Play-Place daily, and are available to book your CBI Field Trip any weekday.

We opened on August 1, 2016 but we have already impacted well over 3,400 children, young adults and adults in the short time we have been open.

Our center creates change within affected individuals that multiplies over and over through the years. The impact is monumental and life changing. Through music, art and science with a variety of life skills embedded within, Play-Place has many specialized and comprehensive curriculum plans, including time management, money skills, music and movement therapy, courtesy, and manners. Over 1700 students have been served by Play-Place since August 1!

Our special rates for CBIs and field trips are as follows:

  • Children/dependents: $5 (Groups 30+ are $4 per student)
  • To book a field trip or CBI, or to learn more information, please contact us at 586-254-6533 or email cbi@autisticplayplace.org

TEACHER FEEDBACK ABOUT FIELD TRIPS

All of the families provided feedback that said they came away from this fieldtrip with new ideas. All of the children found favorite areas/activities in which to play. Many famiies will be back!
It was a fantastic trip each of the times we have visited! It is one of my students favorite trips, because regardless of the severity of their autism, all of my students can participate at their individual levels, remain attentive and are interested in the activities that are presented! The staff is always very welcoming, supportive and knowledgeable, and the activities are new and intriguing! We have already planned to include the PAC in our field trip rotation next year because of the positive feedback and responses that we have seen in our students when we have visited this year! Thank you for developing a place that we can visit as a classroom where my students all have fun in an engaging and safe environment where they can be themselves without judgement!! ❤
We love the warmth of the staff, and their patience with us. Our group typically resists moving much, so the music and manners activity was great because almost everyone participated — even if they didn’t think they want to.
Student response: “Best field trip ever!” Parent response: “Keep this field trip on the list!” Teacher response: The interest level was perfect for my students. Great atmosphere and everyone from the owner to the volunteers made us feel welcome & at home. You have got it right!
The music & manners class was fun. The art class was interesting. I was pleased with the quality of snacks used for food craft. I think it was worth the $1.00 liked corn hole game.
Amazing time!!!! I loved your staff. They were friendly, helpful, and I could tell they were happy to be there. Just a wonderful time. I returned to school and told the Principal and we are now looking into making it a regular CBI for our whole school. Thank you to all of you. My kids loved it and came back to school happy 🙂
We appreciated the structured, yet laid back schedule. This was the best field trip we have had! Can’t wait to return!
It all worked for our age group (k-3). Activities were excellent and modified well for learning styles.

We accept Michigan MEDICAID, Oakland Family Services, EASTERSEALS (Oakland) & CHILDREN'S WAIVER families for RESPITE. NO Wait List! YOU DESERVE A BREAK.
